Pastor Billy Thompson is “America’s Champion for Change.”  He is called to proclaim the life changing power of the word of God to the nations.  His mandate is to bring the body of Christ together as one Bride prepared to meet her Groom Jesus Christ.

Born William Stansbury Thompson, the 6’ 7” former NBA Forward is anything but formal, as his name suggests.  He prefers the nickname Billy and exudes a peaceful, confident spirit that easily engages youth and adults alike.

 

Known by millions for his basketball prowess during his years with the Los Angeles Lakers as a  two time NBA World Champion, Billy Thompson is presently raising up champions in the  Kingdom of God.  Never ashamed of his calling to share “the good news” Billy ministered to fellow team mates throughout his career at every opportunity.  After three years he was traded from the Lakers in the expansion draft of 1988 and concluded his NBA career after two seasons with the Miami Heat, averaging 11points per game (89-90) to pursue God’s call into ministry.  Following his retirement from the NBA, he received a prophetic word that God had not finished using him in professional basketball.  Within a short time he found himself playing in Israel’s Professional Basketball League, which presented him a  new international venue to minister the Gospel.  He presently serves as Chaplain, spiritual guide and intercessor for the Miami Heat in its quest of more NBA Championships. For five years, he served as one of six Assistant Pastors under the leadership of the late Bishop Isaiah S. Williams Jr., (Founder and Pastor of Jesus People Ministries Church International - Miami, Florida).  On January 21, 2001 Pastor Billy was commissioned as the Senior Pastor of the Jesus People Proclaim International Ministries Church in Boca Raton, Florida.  He and his wife Prophetess Cynthia Thompson lead a diverse and progressively growing fellowship that serves the communities encompassing Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.  

 

Pastor Billy has been a frequent guest and host on the national Trinity Broadcast Network and local “Praise the Lord” TV programs in South Florida.  Pastor Billy Thompson is a profound revelator and teacher whose heart is to see believers fulfill their purpose and to live life to their maximum potential.  He is an encourager who realizes that God’s heart is that we may have life and have it more abundantly.    This revelation propels him as he travels internationally, ministering with a word of hope, healing, deliverance and prophetic impartation. His anointing as a Kingdom Ambassador and Global Athlete of Good Will has taken him to four of the seven continents.  He has ministered with Tim Storey, Apostle Renny McLean and received impartations from Benny Hinn, Moris Cerullo, Ruth Heflin, the late ArchBishop Benson Idahosa and others.

 

As a recognized community and civic leader, Pastor Thompson was presented a Key to the City of Boca Raton by the Mayor Steven Abrahms.  He also has received a proclamation from U.S. Representative Alcee Hastings and a designation of September 14, 2001 as Billy S. Thompson Day.  In addition to his service for the Miami Heat, he is also Chaplain for the City of Boca Raton Fire Department.
